HBO Doll & Em

HBO Doll & Em

Last week I was invited to Style Coalition’s lounge for an early private screening of HBO’s new hit series Doll & Em, a British comedy starring Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells before the national premiere. I was anticipating the screening since I love Emily Mortimer in The Newsroom. Before watching Doll & Em, I didn’t know much about the show, I actually thought it was a reality show but it was really about two real-life best friends as (slightly) fictionalized versions of themselves.

It was definitely a different experience watching a TV show on a big screen and having your blogger friends laughing and discussing the scenes together at the lounge. I totally related to the show because I told my BFF that if one day I need an assistant I would hire her to be with me 24/7. But after watching the show, hiring my BFF for the assistant job may not be such a good idea after all ha! I really liked the quote, “Being best friends was easy. Until it became work.” #SOTRUE

The two episodes that I watched was hilarious, I can’t wait to watch the next 4 episodes! There were also big celebrity cameos like Susan Sarandon and Chloë Sevigny which played themselves in the show.

The premiere date of Doll & Em is tonight WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on HBO. Be sure to tune-in, I promise it will fun! You can also watch and discuss your thoughts about the show on social media with hashtag #DollAndEm and be sure to follow @HBO for more updates. Also, join Emily Mortimer for a live HBO Connect Q&A Thursday (3/20) at 1:00 p.m. (ET).

Oakley Disruptive by Design 30th Anniversary Celebration

Oakley Disruptive by Design 30th Anniversary Celebration

Last week I was in Los Angeles for Oakley‘s Disruptive by Design 30th anniversary celebration at Red Studios in Hollywood. All press and VIPs were picked up from Loews Hollywood Hotel (where we stayed) and driven to the venue in a Telsa (pretty amazing!). The celebration party was also an unveiling of three key innovation pillars: Enhanced Vision, Digital Eyewear and Customization. Oakley CEO aka Chief Mad Scientist, Colin Baden said, “This is a pivotal moment in the history of our brand.” A principle that has been ingrained in the foundation of the brand since 1975, Disruptive by Design will become the brand voice for Oakley’s next chapter of industry revolution – #disruptivebydesign.

The brand platform was unveiled to global media in context of the company’s rich heritage in game-changing product design and development. Voiced by two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, the Oakley story of disruption was told for the first time at RED Studios in Hollywood, a beacon of disruption in cinematography established by Oakley founder Jim Jannard.

I can’t wait to see the new products! More photos from the event after the jump…

Hennessy Privilege Chinese New Year 2014 Dinner

On Tuesday night, February 4th, I had the honor to co-host Hennessy Privilege‘s Chinese New Year 2014 dinner with Christine Su, Yu-Ming Wu and Rocky Xu for a select group of Asian-American influencers. The dinner took place in Flushing at Lake Pavilion with an 8-course banquet style feast featuring various dishes meant to symbolize good fortune. Hennessy Privilege’s specialty cocktail of the night was “The Wooden Horse” (in honor of the Year of the Horse) served neat and/or on-the-rocks.

A Chinese New Year celebration isn’t complete with a lion dance, this performance is believed to bring good luck and fortune so it’s a must. The lion dance was performed by Wan Chi Ming Dragon and Lion Dance Team. At the end of the night guests were gifted with engraved Hennessy Privilege bottles along with a Money Tree.

And of course being a host has it’s perks, I left with a Hennessy Privilege Collector’s Edition bottle, along with my name engraved on a Hennessy Privilege bottle and can’t forget the Money Tree to bring fortune! It was a perfect night, thank you Hennessy Privilege!

Isabel Marant pour H&M Parisian Street Fair Launch Party

Isabel Marant pour H&M Parisian Street Fair Launch Party

I’m sure most of you guys already know that I’ve been in Paris since Tuesday, H&M invited me to celebrate the launch of the Isabel Marant pour H&M collaboration. I’m so happy to be back in Paris, especially since I’ve been so smitten from the first visit last week. From never been to Paris to visiting twice in one month, I think Paris loves me (I love Paris too!).

On Thursday night, I was so excited to celebrate the launch of the Isabel Marant pour H&M collection at Tennis Club de Paris. As we entered the venue, we were brought back to the early 90s, the time when Isabel debuted her eponymous line. It’s like I’ve entered into a Parisian street fair featuring a disco, brasseries, neon signs, candy shops, pizza shops, souvenir shops, epiceries, street vendors and rollerskating rink. Celebrities in attendance included Audrey Tautou, January Jones, Freida Pinto and many more. And there were live performances by Grandmaster Melle Mel and Rappers Delight, originally of Sugarhill Gang to get everyone pumped up. It was simply amazing, I didn’t want to leave!

“We wanted to present the collection in a way that felt real and casual, not a red-carpet extravaganza: this is how I see my work. I design for everybody and am constantly inspired by the world I see around me, so it felt natural to have an urban setting as the backdrop of the event. And it had to be Paris, because the city is part of my DNA,” says Isabel Marant.

“This street celebration was the perfect way to launch a collection that oozes the energy of cool Parisian style. It felt optimistic and real: a reflection of Isabel Marant’s knack for urban sophistication and bohemia. I think the collection for women, men and teen captures her spirit and I hope our customers are as excited as we are for the launch,” says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M.

The collection consists some of Isabel Marant’s most iconic pieces from her career and at the event it was presented in a filmic way. Images, films and street casted models revealed the world of Isabel Marant. The city being integral to her style, Paris came as a natural choice to celebrate the collection being launched on November 14th in around 250 stores worldwide and online. Are you ready?
