Le Specs Luxe Spring/Summer 2015 Collection

Having developed a cult following for its signature brand of daring designs, Le Specs amplifies its approach to eyewear with the debut of Le Specs Luxe. Luxe reveals a new dimension for the label presenting a sleeker and sartorially elevated interpretation of its aesthetic through innovative frame materials and elegant finishes. The campaign, photographed by Liz Ham, presents contemporary headshots of the models to reflect shape and structure; while hair and makeup, by Sarah Tammer, is pulled back and understated to accentuate the luxurious frames.

“The launch of our inaugural Le Specs Luxe Collection is the result of our progression over the last few years globally. Our growth through the top retailers internationally has shown the potential for a premium quality collection at an affordable price. The collection has an air of sophistication, while still staying true to the irreverent and youthful nature of Le Specs,” says Designer Hamish Tame of the collection.

Drawing inspiration from the French Riviera, glacier blue, rose and ecru compliment a tonal base palette of silver and gold. Classic Hollywood charm is referenced in modernized 1950s styles with tasteful tortoiseshell contrasted by mirror lenses and sleek metallic elements. The collection achieves a unique appearance by joining a clean and minimal look with architectural foundations.

Le Specs Luxe is available now in stores and online at lespecs.com, priced at $119.

Oakley In Residence: Los Angeles

Last week we were in sunny California for the opening of Oakley’s “Oakley in Residence: Los Angeles” – a creative hangout space and pop-up skate park to explore, participate in and celebrate a shared obsession for creativity in skate from now through May 10th. The Oakley in Residence: Los Angeles is free and open to the public offering weekly workshops, exhibitions, athlete meet-ups, skate sessions and film screenings.

As part of the company’s global ONE OBSESSION campaign, the new venue is the first of three “Oakley in Residence” designed to invite people around the world to share their passion and inspire others through sport. Skater, Eric Koston, featured in the ONE OBSESSION campaign, inspired the concept and programming of Oakley in Residence: Los Angeles with connections to his personal place of obsession (Los Angeles), art, creativity and skate culture.

“A sport is only as strong as the community that supports it, and that community is built on a shared obsession of the sport,” said Tom Cartmale, Global Director Brand Communications. “Oakley in Residence: Los Angeles is a place for like-minded people to gather and celebrate their shared passion in skateboarding – bringing the essence of Oakley’s ONE OBSESSION campaign to life.”

Upcoming plans for Oakley in Residence includes opening up a community workshop space around urban cycling culture in London, as well as a New York location in July to celebrate baseball culture.

H&M Debuts at MET Gala 2015

Last night was all about the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit 2015 aka Met Gala, this year’s exhibition theme was, “China: Through the Looking Glass”. H&M makes its debut to the Met Gala this year collaborating with committee member, fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker on her custom-made gown. And in honor of their first time taking a table adorned celebrity guests in custom H&M looks including Vanessa Hudgens, Janelle Monáe, Banks, and Odell Beckham Jr.

Inspired by this year’s exhibition theme, H&M’s design team created one-of-a-kind looks in collaboration with each of its guests. The designs honor each individual’s unique personal style and features intricate detailing such as hand done beading and embroideries. Keeping with the theme, design elements such as pleating inspired by the folds of a fan highlight the depth of H&M’s high-fashion design capabilities while still maintaining their position as one of the world’s leading retailers.

Pretty impressive line-up of celebrities for H&M’s first Met Gala right? Loved that they worked with one of fashion’s most influential style icons of our time, Sarah Jessica Parker to create her look for this year’s gala. Sarah Jessica wore a one-shouldered black silk dress, which she designed in collaboration with H&M, with a draped train embroidered with Scarlet poppies. The dress also included a patch work panel, made of sustainable fabric and embellishments, highlighting H&M’s vision of making fashion sustainable and sustainability fashionable. Her head piece by Philip Treacy turned lots of heads too, amazing.
