First Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen announces their venture to launch menswear under their high-end label The Row, now the twins are expanding their contemporary line Elizabeth and James into menswear as well. For the first season, the Olsen’s took inspiration from “Oliver Twist” and Peter Pan’s Lost Boys, the line has a “rugged downtown flair, with mildly trendy silhouettes”. The collection consists of cashmere sweaters, frayed jersey tops and washed flannel pieces with patterns like plaids and an American Indian intarsia which covers a puffer vest and a coat with removable shearling lining and the signature item will be a pleated flannel trouser retailing for $265. Pricing for the menswear collection are at the high end of contemporary and will be launched in the US at Barneys New York.

“We knew eventually there would be a guy, a James,” said Ashley Olsen. However, “in men’s it’s more about balancing uptown and downtown,” she said. “That’s not literal, it’s just a reference to fabrics and the risks people are willing to take in the way they dress,” said Mary-Kate. via WWD
