I was super excited to attend Rihanna’s first NYFW show, I mean who wouldn’t be! For those that have been following me, already know I’m a big fan, love her! On day 2, Friday February 12th, the FENTY PUMA by Rihanna A/W 2016 fashion show took place at 23 Wall Street. I got to check out backstage, where Rihanna was there making sure of things were perfect before showtime and also hair by Yusef (Rihanna’s hair stylist) and make-up by Pat McGrath. The runway setup was so dope, dark and moody, with LED paneled runway along with faux trees and mirrors.
The first season of FENTY PUMA by Rihanna collection consists of footwear, apparel and accessories for both women and men. The gothic-sportswear collection was inspired by Japanese street culture and tradition. Super obsessed with almost all the pieces, love that it’s mostly unisex pieces and oversized- def my style! And how cool is the exaggerated long sleeve tops and jackets and voluminous hoodies and crew necks? Rihanna’s streetwear game is on point!
“This collection is not only a representation of who I am and how I dress, but also pushes the boundaries of what I wanted to create with PUMA” said PUMA Brand Ambassador and Women’s Creative Director Rihanna, “I wanted to take PUMA to a new place with something unpredictable and unexpected. It’s Japanese street culture with a haunting twist. I played with texture and silhouettes and all of the fabrics are luxurious. I reinterpreted the traditional in my way. I’m looking forward to sharing the collection with the fashion community and fans.”
The accessories was on point too! The range features an over-the-top Bomber Jacket Bag, the Faux Fur Waistbag fit with two pockets, durags, caps and headwear, chokers and veiled sweatband all to perfect the look. Need one of each, yes even the durag lol!
As a follow-up to her beloved PUMA Creeper launch, the AW16 collection ranges from boots to sporty heels to training sneakers. An exaggerated over-the-knee Eskiva boot laced-up on some of fashion’s top models turned heads on the runway. The AW16 collection will be available at retail beginning September 2016, I can hardly wait!!
But good news, PUMA will be launching some footwear styles this SS16 featuring Rihanna’s first official modern and futuristic training shoe, the FENTY Trainer which hits stores worldwide on February 26th. And remember those Faux Fur Slides she’s been wearing around? Those will launch in April and the infamous PUMA Creeper returns in May with new colors. YES!
Now sit back and check out the full collection below and start making your wishlist!
