Since 2014 marks the return of the iconic Stan Smith sneaker, adidas has teamed up with a number of Asian designers to offer their unique version of the celebrated shoes and will be releasing the collaborations under their Consortium tier.
Who better to include in the lineup of designers than Yohji Yamamoto, whose high-end sportswear line, Y-3 has proven success with adidas. For the Stan Smith Consortium project, he draws inspiration from his Y’s collection, resulting in the Stan Smith Y’s. The sleek, simple silhouette of the classic Stan Smith are maintained while the details and materials make this version truly unique. The shoe is outfitted in thick navy canvas on medial and lateral quarters, grey suede accents on the eye-stay and heel tab, white leather on the toe box and tongue, and the signature 3-stripes are represented by threads overhanging the midsole.
The Stan Smith Y’s will be available in select Consortium retailers in the next coming weeks for $180.
