Last September during New York Fashion Week, HP invited me to a special preview of the new Vivienne Tam x HP Mini netbook where Vivienne Tam was there telling us about her inspirations. The new netbook design reflects Tam’s spring 2010 collection, inspired by the classic Chinese love story, “Butterfly Lovers,” a beautiful tale of freedom, romance and inspiration featuring butterflies and a universally loved color of champagne as the background.
“As a fashion designer I have always found inspiration in bringing contrasting worlds together,” said world-renowned designer Vivienne Tam. “I use computers in every aspect of my life so it seemed natural to marry fashion and technology. Together with HP, we created this movement of fashionable tech accessories with the second edition digital clutch.”
After months and months of waiting, HP officially announces the availability of the latest Vivienne Tam x HP Mini 210 “Butterfly Lovers” digital clutch, available for pre-order now at www.hp.com/viviennetam. The newest netbook weights starting at 2.6 pounds and is less than 1-inch thin, it easily fits into purses or bags perfect for the fashionista bloggers! Integrated directly into the laptop’s lid using HP Imprint technology, the design is as durable as it is stunning. The HP Mini 210 Vivienne Tam Edition also comes with a “butterfly lovers” desktop theme that includes an animated butterfly start menu, custom Vivienne Tam icons and three wallpapers to coordinate with the design.
Coordinated accessories further complement the Vivienne Tam Mini, including a matching micro-fiber suede sleeve and optional butterfly-lovers wireless mouse ($39.99) or Monster-branded in-ear headphones ($199.95).
New features on the Mini 210 are:
– Partnering with Beats™ by Dr. Dre™, HP has included unique, high-performance audio software so listeners can experience music through headphones or external speakers the way artists intended them to.
– The built-in webcam allows customers to create and upload videos, take snapshots and chat with friends over the web. With a click of a button, the webcam turns into an instant ‘mirror.’
– HP’s instant-on software (HP QuickWeb) lets users – within seconds – post to Facebook, send a tweet, listen to music, browse the web, check an appointment, send an e-mail or chat, saving time usually spent waiting for the computer to fully boot.
The Vivienne Tam x HP Mini 210 Edition is expected to be available March 19th with a starting price of $599, and will also be available at U.S. retailers including Neiman Marcus, Amazon.com, Best Buy and J&R Electronics.
FAB, can’t wait till it releases! Loved the first edition, and now the second edition is just as beautiful with new custom software and technology. I anticipate to try it.
