Burberry Prorsum‘s sailing outfit and Emilio Pucci’s gymnastics design.
The upcoming Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is just two months away, Hong Kong-based retailer Lane Crawford invited 12 designers to each create one-of-a-kind styles reflecting their favorite Olympic sport to be displayed in numerous events in Beijing during the 2008 Summer Games. All 12 designs, called “The Collective: Synergy in Fashion,” are to be displayed for two weeks at Beijing’s Today Art Museum as part of its “Fashion in Motion” exhibition, then it will also be be displayed at Lane Crawford Beijing during July and August. The exhibit will then be auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting UNICEF‘s Special Relief Funds for Children affected by the Sichuan earthquake.
Participating designers/brands include 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alberta Ferretti, Alexander McQueen, Burberry Prorsum, Martin Margiela, Stella McCartney, Costume National, Givenchy, Neil Barrett, Raf Simons, Yves Saint Laurent and Rick Owens. The outfits are so hot! via WWD / Fashion Week Daily

Givenchy‘s archery outfit features a black leather coat with golden arrow detail, a multi-colored laced-up leather bustier, black leather and jersey Bermuda shorts. Stella McCartney‘s equestrian outfit consists of a blouson overcoat and jodhpurs.
Alberta Ferretti‘s take on a gymnastics outfit and 3.1 Phillip Lim created tennis outfit, the two-piece dress in the form of a knitted, tiered ensemble. The shade of pink chosen is inspired by peonies, a popular flower of Asia, with red trimming to coincide with the cultural color of China.
Stefano Pilati for YSL‘s running outfit features a soft vanilla silk jersey gown with printed winged sleeves and hand-painted edges paired with a beaded Olympic emblem chain belt. Martin Margiela created a sculptural shuttlecock top inspired by badminton.
