For Rihanna and Stance’s fourth collaboration, Japanese Street-Punk played a big role in her designs, which was also seen in her FENTY PUMA AW/16 Collection. The Autumn 2016 lineup features a 9-piece collection of socks and hosiery. The collection is brought to life through LA-based Contemporary Illustrator, Bijou Karman, who turned Rihanna’s designs into illustrated works of art for the product release. The artist was handpicked by Rihanna herself.
The collection is evocative of juxtaposing the beauty and elegance of Japanese culture with the modern street wear and punk movement. From intricate Lotus florals, stunning patterns inspired by vintage Kimono’s, and traditional calligraphy, mashed up with re-imagined plaids and Japanese writings that speak to Rihanna’s ‘Bad Gal’ persona, the collection is as inventive and bold as she is. The striking color palette plays up burgundy, navy, coral, soft sherbert and minted green hues for a refreshing autumn aesthetic.
The Fenty for Stance by Rihanna Autumn 2016 Collection is available online at Stance.com, the Stance flagship store in Soho, NY and in select retailers. Stay tuned for the release of Rihanna’s special Holiday drop in November of 2016.
