A time of romance, fine wine and exotic tropical landscapes is how designer, Scott Sternberg, idealized Band of Outsiders’ Spring 2015 collection. Inspired by images of the 1960’s Brazilian jazz records during the Tropicália movement, the collection creates silhouettes in ultra-short pleated dresses, tailored sheaths, micro ponchos and high-waisted bathing suit-like bottoms. Cross grosgrain straps are seen on belts of dresses, shirts and skirts, while the classic Toile de Jouy pattern can be seen on light dresses and shirts embedded with the face of the Brazilian album “Nara.”
Another inspiration that emerges through the collection is the ladybug. It takes form on silk crepe prints, beading on cardigans and sweater dresses and applied on Mackintosh raincoats. Accessories include, floppy straw sun hats woven with black, white and clear PCV pieces.
