IKEA and Ori Develop ROGNAN Robotic Furniture for Small Space Living

For those like me, living in NYC especially in Manhattan can be a challenge if you have a lot of stuff but a small space. Real estate in Manhattan is crazy and some have no choice but to get roommates or rent a smaller spot. I’m always looking for ways to better use my space, so when I saw that IKEA and Ori teamed up to develop ROGNAN robotic furniture for small space living, I was ecstatic especially since you know you won’t need to break the bank.

With ROGNAN the customer gets eight extra square meters of living space, using robotics to transform the solution from bedroom to walk-in closet, to work space, to living room. An all-in-one solution activated through a simple interface touchpad,” says Seana Strawn, Product developer for new innovations at IKEA of Sweden. “Instead of making the furniture smaller, we transform the furniture to the function that you need at that time. When you sleep, you do not need your sofa. When you use your wardrobe, you do not need your bed etc.”, Seana continues.

It’s first rolling out in Hong Kong and Japan in 2020 which is ideal since I know for a fact that HK rental apartments are shrinking as the city is booming! I can’t wait till it rolls out in NYC, I definitely will like to explore some of the furniture options. Who’s here for this?
