Hope everyone had a great weekend! For those that follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat (@nitro_licious) already knew what I was up to yesterday. I had a great time hanging out with Canadian model Chantelle “Winnie” Harlow and iconic, hip-hop photographer Jonathan Mannion at a bodega-style pop-up called The Sprite Corner for a really cool workshop that I am glad I took part in on Sunday. The Sprite Corner was dope, stocked with everything Sprite-branded from toilet tissue to candy to cereal. I wish I was able to shop the “bodega” there were all kinds of fun stuff there!
The Sprite Corner represents a place in the neighborhood where like-minded people come together to support each other’s creativity, complementing and broadcasting what it means to Obey Your Thirst. Sprite’s “Obey your Thirst” platform is all about following your own path and being true to yourself.
Back to the workshop, Jonathan, who I’ve met several times before, gave us a quick rundown of some of the most iconic hip hop artists, athletes and models he worked with including: Jay-Z, Eminem, Aaliyah, Nas, A$AP Rocky, Outkast, Kendrick Lamar, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Tyra Banks and many more big names. The photos are amazing of course, so it was great to hear his stories about working with a certain artist and what went through his mind when he was shooting those people as well.
After that Jonathan and Winnie sat down for a little chat and we got learn more about her. Winnie was discovered by Tyra Banks on Instagram and placed in the 21st cycle of America’s Next Top Model. Then the fun part came when we got to see Jonathan and Winnie at work, a photography session with both of them happened at the event. Pretty amazing day right? You can check out all things happening at The Sprite Corner on their Tumblr.
