Yesterday I was invited to Japanese high-end brand Visvim‘s Spring 2014 presentation at Industria Superstudio, but due to some conflict I was unable to attend. Super sad since it’s the first time they’re showing in NYFW (I believe so). The collection was inspired by patchwork quilting and takes elements from many of these cultures, drawing reference in particular from Amish garments, French workwear, and Japanese utilitywear.
“Patchwork quilting is unique in the sense that each piece is a reflection of the individual who creates it”, says Hiroki. He adds, “Most cultures have their own patchwork-esque creations, each with its own special appeal because of the fabrics and materials that are available regionally”.
