On Friday night, Luxottica and Persol hosted a cocktail party to launch a new collection of optical and sunglasses inspired by vintage-design analogue cameras and reinterpreted using modern technology called Persol Relex Edition. The event was held in the heart of Piazza Duomo in the underground space Spazio Ex Cobianchi, a former daytime hotel, which was never used for an event before. There’s always the unexpected from a Luxottica event. Also amazing, were found ruins covered by glass just beneath guests sipping cocktails.
I’ve had fun at the event and even “tried” to recreate the original ad campaign that was shot by Swedish photographer, Julia Hetta. The campaign was brilliant and so I had to try. PO3046S is available in a single size, this unisex sunglasses model interprets vintage style in a modern guise thanks to a mix of metal, acetate and tinted lenses. The front is highlighted on the two sides by the Mini Supreme Arrow, also doubled at the base of the engraved metal bridge. New colours: black with gunmetal temples and polar grey/green lenses; light havana with gunmetal temple and photopolar green tinted lenses; classic havana with gold-coloured temples and polar brown lenses; streaked brown with gunmetal temples and grey tinted lenses. PO3044V is available in two sizes, the optical model combines a rectangular acetate front – recalling the lens of a number of vintage cameras – with lightweight metal temples. It comes in four different colours straight out of the Persol historical archives: havana with gold temples; streaked green with gunmetal temples; black with gunmetal temples; light havana with gunmetal temples. Price: 210 Euro / 310 $.
