The origin of Chinese New Year is centuries old and gains significance because of myths and traditions that are known throughout Chinese regions. Mythical creatures are part of Chinese New Year history and tradition. CLOT and artist/illustrator Niv Bavarsky from California collaborated together to create the ANCIENT SPIRITS Capsule in celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year of 2013. However, instead of following the tradition of powerful beasts that signify everything good, the beasts that follow represent the devil. As Niv put it, “the capsule is inspired by legends, great mythological beasts and maybe a touch of psychedelia”. There is the enlarged devil print and smoky theme that is carried throughout the capsule. The Ancient Spirits Capsule will attract CLOT’s trendy followers, as well as, the new generation.
