In honor of AriZona’s 20th anniversary, they are holding a nationwide taste contest in search of a new flavor to put out. There are 3 new flavors which the public is able to vote on and decide which flavor should be the NEW AriZona flavor. AriZona has been doing pop-up flavor samplings nationwide but since not everyone can try the sampling, I was one of the chosen one to be on their Flavor Panel (along with foodies, celebrities, designers, etc) to try it and pick my favorite flavor.
This past weekend I received a package from AriZona Iced Tea with the 3 new flavors so I stopped by my friend’s house to taste it together. The 3 new flavors consists of 3 all American classics: Cherry Lime Rickey (carbonated), Chocolate Fudge Float (carbonated) and Orange Creamsicle. I find it interesting that none of them are flavored teas and that two of them are carbonated.
Chocolate Fudge Float: Carbonated. When the mind sees chocolate we automatically think it’s going to be very sweet and fattening but it’s only 60 calories per 8 fl oz. For chocolate and soda lovers like myself, you’ll love this drink, it smells good and it’s fizzy, not your typical chocolate drink. Very interesting drink. Drinking a cup of it will be enough for me but I don’t think I can drink a whole 99cents can of it, the chocolate and carbonation may be a bit overwhelming.
Orange Creamsicle: Non-carbonated. Looks thick since it’s opaque but it is actually quite smooth when you drink it. I love the smell of it since I’m a fan of orange creamsicle ice cream, the iconic flavor has been captured very well in the aroma and taste. It also has added mandarin orange notes. It’s light and quite refreshing, but again I’m not sure I can drink a whole 99cents can of it…
Cherry Lime Rickey: Carbonated. Contains 10% juice, 70 calories. I’ve never had a Lime Rickey before so I can’t compare it. Looks like fruit punch and smells a bit like it too but when you drink it you’ll taste the lime. I think this drink is refreshing and easy to drink, the cherry flavor is good and it’s not too sweet with the balance of the lime. I can definitely drink a whole 99cents can of it, and this is perfect for a hot summer day and at a BBQ! My pick!
Voting begins April 1 thru April 30, 2012- you can vote at www.arizona20years.com. After which, they are conducting another contest which will be to design a 20th anniversary can for the winning flavor, so stay tuned for that as well. I can’t wait to find out if my pick will prevail! Which flavor would you pick?
