Q&A with Ben Taverniti About Georgia May Jagger for Hudson Jeans

Wednesday, November 10, 2010 by Wendy Lam

I’m sure most of you guys already know that Georgia May Jagger is the face of Hudson Jeans, it’s no surprise that they’ve also tapped her to design a collection launching this spring. I’m a fan of Hudson Jeans and I’m totally looking forward to seeing the fruition of the collection. You’ve already seen one of the designs I snapped last month, here’s an interview I did with Hudson Jeans creative director, Ben Taverniti regarding the upcoming collaboration. The Georgia May Jagger for Hudson Jeans collection is scheduled to launch on hudsonjeans.com and in specialty retailers in February 2011! Can’t wait to see the full collection.

NL: How did this collaboration originate?
BT: The collaboration came about in casual conversations with Georgia-May She’s very creative and has a passion for fashion. She has a real interest in fashion, art, design, It all just seemed to ‘fit’.

NL: What are your favorite jeans in the collection?
BT: That’s a tough question. I feel like they are like children; they are all special and great in their own unique way. If I had to pick though, I would probably have to say the five pocket basic jean because it’s simple yet chic – and the washes are killer.

Read the rest of the interview after the jump…

NL: How long did the collection take to complete?
BT: From beginning to end .. I would say about 9 months – just on the design process .. the conversation started organically and we wanted it that way .. we did not want to force anything. We are in pre production now and the jeans will ship out in early Spring 2011.

NL: Where will it be sold?
BT: The best department and specialty stores throughout the country as well as internationally on HUDSONJeans.com

NL: What are the price points?
BT: $180 to $350 US$ retail

NL: What differentiates this collection from HUDSON Jeans other collections?
BT: This collection is by Georgia and for Georgia. Our main focus from the very beginning was to execute a jean that she would never want to take off. It was her vision and passion to detail…we executed with our expertise and knowledge of how to make a jean that would fit in all the right places.

NL: How was working with Georgia-May Jagger?
BT: Incredible .. she is truly inspirational. She is very confident in what she wants .. effortlessly stylish .. humble and grounded. Also, has a very keen understanding of fashion and a real point of view on what she wanted in a jean.

NL: Will this be a one-time capsule collection or will it be long term?
BT: You’ll have to wait and see 😉
