New York City is the mecca of basketball; we have the glitz and glam of Madison Square Garden and grit and grime of the blacktop courts dotted all around the city. Nike and its two brand associates Jordan Brand and Converse along with the USA Mens Basketball Team have announced a celebration of the game that has unified the city with the rest of the world, and it’s coming this August 12th in Times Square, the capital of the world. If you’re a fan of the NBA, then there’s nothing like watching NBA superstars play on a hardwood court right smack in the middle of the forty-deuce!
The Nike/Jordan Brand/Converse Fall 2010 Basketball showcase kicked off with a special performance by a church choir singing Alicia Keys’ Empire State of Mind Part II, and later the World Basketball Festival was officially announced by Nike president Charlie Denson and some notable NBA figures. The World Basketball Festival honors the game that has brought each country hand-in-hand so be sure to check it out when it hits Times Square and other NYC spots like MSG and Rucker Park.
