According to WWD, Los Angeles-based contemporary designer Geren Ford is launching shoes, jewelry and belts for spring. “We wanted to do accessories for awhile, but we wanted to wait until we had something to say and the opportunity to creatively tell a story,” said Ford. For the shoes collection, Ford was inspired by “Buenos Aires and José Ignacio, Uruguay, where she has spent a great deal of time. Leather gladiator sandals, easy flats and platform pumps have artisanlike stitching and handcrafted details, retailing from $265 to $499. Ford’s belts are sashlike shapes in leather and silk. Retailing for $90 to $239, they are meant to be worn high or low, with shorts, pants or dresses. Ford was inspired by her love of Bauhaus and architecture for her jewelry collection, comprising brass cocktail rings and heavy, circular statement necklaces, retailing for $185 to $389. She also layered mixed materials, such as leather, rock crystal and gunmetal.”
