Britney Spear’s The Circus tour kicks off tonight at New Orleans and design sketches of the costumes created by Canadian twins Dan and Dean Caten of the Dsquared2 has unveiled. According to WWD, “the circus-themed costumes for Spears and her dancers, are part of the show’s opener. Dressed in tails and heels, the Catens play ringmasters in a video sequence projected on stage before the concert, which also includes Internet blog personality Perez Hilton.” The “totally wild” stage outfits “starts off with the “cheetah-head, removes it to become the ring-master and lion-tamer, and then strips off the jacket to reveal a Swarovski-crystal corset, fishnets and thigh-high boots,” said Dan Caten. I’m a bit obsessed with the thigh-high boots already, can’t wait to see concert pics!
“We wanted to create something much more provoking and indecent…something animalistic and primal,” the duo said of their inspiration, which, although based on the Circus seems to have more than a little in common with the lady herself. “We are confident that this tour partnership, an autobiographical tribute for one who has always been in the spotlight: scrutinized, watched, imitated, photographed, criticized and loved, will be an enormous success.” via Vogue UK
