Marc Jacobs features on the cover of the June/July double issue of Interview magazine with white makeup, a white button down shirt, a white Warholian wig and fake eyelashes as a tribute to Warhol whom turns 80 this August. Even though the editorial shoot took 12-hours to shoot in Paris with Mikael Jansson, Marc thought it was well worth it. In the shoot he appears in a Rellik dress, Louis Vuitton platforms, tights and even shows off his Spongebob love. The story focuses on “the way he runs his business, his artlike advertising, stores that feel like clubs and collaborations with Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince”. “Andy was always talking about how new art is business art,” Interview’s Glenn O’Brien said. Besides the magazine hitting stands this Thursday, T-shirts ($35) and tote bags ($15) imprinted with his cover shot will also be in the window display of his Bleecker Street store. All proceeds of the products will benefit the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. I heart Marc!
Is Marc Jacobs the new Andy Warhol? Marc stated, “I don’t think of myself that way. Warhol is Warhol. He’s practically a god. I thought, ‘I’m going to get a lot of hell for this.'” via WWD
