The Scene
This small, stylish joint takes cues from both of its cultural influences. Latin food and drinks dominate the menu, while Chinese fabrics and lantern lights add a touch of the Orient. Despite the bar’s small size, the high ceiling gives an open feel. An impressive array of tequila sits proudly behind the wooden bar, but most of the young patrons prefer the fruity sweet mixed drinks. Neighbors looking to sip a spendy cocktail to a trendy soundtrack appreciate its location in an area with few nearby options. Bartenders use fresh juice for the sweet blood orange and tangy grapefruit margaritas, with sugared, not salted rims. Though most people come for drinks, the inexpensive tapas menu balances out the more pricey libations. The guacamole tastes as if it was made just before presentation, and the fish or chicken tacos–three corn tortilla-wrapped goodies per order–offer tender tastes of Mexico. – Citysearch

Another restaurant in my neighborhood, I passby barrio chino everyday and when I come home from work this place is always packed with people. The only time I see it empty is when it first opens its doors in the AM, but soon after swarms of people fill the seats and outside of this tiny restaurant. I’ve heard many good things about this spot and saw this restaurant open from day one, I finally decided to try this spot out with Yu-Ming and Lily. This spot is overly crowded and when you go for dinner be prepared to wait at least 30 mins for a table, the tables are tiny not good for big parties and if you’re there for a chat, not quite the place – it gets extremely noisy but a fun place for dinner. I’m not a big fan of tacos and hate guacamole but I really enjoyed my Bistek a La Casa dish – soooooooo GOOD! YM and Lily quite like this place and if you’re a big fan of Mexican food you’ll probably like it, I’ll def go back there for the Bistek a La Casa again! Peep the pics after the jump…
