The Scene
Bar Americain, Bobby Flay’s ode to regional American cooking, comes to life in a bright, lively brasserie setting in mid-town Manhattan. With its soaring ceilings, marble floors and warm lights, David Rockwell’s design creates the perfect backdrop for a wedding reception, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs or lunch meetings. Group event spaces include two private dining rooms and an open, airy mezzanine, overlooking the dramatic bar. – Bar American

I’ve been to Bobby Flay’s old restaurant called, Americana when it was still around at Union Square and enjoyed it a lot. So I automatically think that Bar Americain will be just as good, if not better. I was totally wrong, B and I went there and was very disappointed, the place was nice but the food was average on an expensive level. We learned that just because the owner/chef if famous don’t go there if they are not actually cooking, you feel me? I will not go back there on my own choice, peep the meal after the jump…

New England Clam & Sweet Potato Chowder – didn’t like this at all

Mussels & Fries Americain, Green Chile Broth – i had better

Smoked Chicken, Hatch Green Chile Spoonbread, Black Pepper Vinegar Sauce – ok but i had better

Rack of Pork, Sour Mash, Creamed Corn – ok
