The Converse waist-cincher, by Bora Aksu – Pedro Zozaya
Bora Aksu, has quite a surprise prepared for his spring/summer 2007 collection, due to appear at September’s London Fashion Week. He’ll be using Converse as you have never seen it before. Everyone has a pair of All Stars in the wardrobe – but now Aksu is ready to turn footwear into waistwear. He is busy creating a belt that will enhance the figure of his immaculate dresses with casual accessories on a made-to-order basis. “I’m enjoying experimenting with Converse fabrics and excited by the idea of turning what is traditionally footwear into belts and waist decorations,” he says. Bora graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2002 with a distinction for his MA in fashion design and his partnership Converse began last February at London Fashion Week when he turned the One Star trainer into a canvas boot. “They worked really well as part of the whole nomadic theme of my ‘Disciples’ collection, and yes, we have had people ringing up and begging for them.”
Remember I showed some of Bora Aksu stuff before? Now I see this belt from him, it’s soooooooooooooo cute! I wonder if I can get one haha!! This belt is simply amazing!
