Disruptive by Design Dinner at Oakley Headquarters

Disruptive by Design Dinner at Oakley Headquarters

As per my previous post, I was in Los Angeles with Oakley last week for their Disruptive by Design 30th anniversary celebration. The night before the party, Oakley invited us to its headquarters aka The Bunker at One Icon for dinner. I was super excited to visit the HQ since everyone that went before said it’s pretty amazing. When I arrived at I was in awe, the building is so unique and futuristic, definitely made me feel like I was in an Iron Man movie (haha).

Dinner was fun and dessert was special since it was a Nitro Coconut Coolant dessert prepared by Chef Marcel Vigneron, so yum! Afterwards, I got to customize a pair of sunglasses.

Oakley Disruptive by Design 30th Anniversary Celebration

Oakley Disruptive by Design 30th Anniversary Celebration

Last week I was in Los Angeles for Oakley‘s Disruptive by Design 30th anniversary celebration at Red Studios in Hollywood. All press and VIPs were picked up from Loews Hollywood Hotel (where we stayed) and driven to the venue in a Telsa (pretty amazing!). The celebration party was also an unveiling of three key innovation pillars: Enhanced Vision, Digital Eyewear and Customization. Oakley CEO aka Chief Mad Scientist, Colin Baden said, “This is a pivotal moment in the history of our brand.” A principle that has been ingrained in the foundation of the brand since 1975, Disruptive by Design will become the brand voice for Oakley’s next chapter of industry revolution – #disruptivebydesign.

The brand platform was unveiled to global media in context of the company’s rich heritage in game-changing product design and development. Voiced by two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, the Oakley story of disruption was told for the first time at RED Studios in Hollywood, a beacon of disruption in cinematography established by Oakley founder Jim Jannard.

I can’t wait to see the new products! More photos from the event after the jump…

nitro:licious turns 8!

nitro:licious turns 8!

Happy 8th year anniversary to my baby nitro:licious! Has it been 8 years already? Yesterday, my blog officially turned 8, time flies! For those that follow me on Instagram and Twitter, you guys already know that I’m still in Los Angeles and had a mini celebration at Chubby Cheek Cafe. I’ve been wanting to try the food since I didn’t get a chance to eat last time when I was hosting the mini:licious pre-launch party. I also just wanted to spend more time with my goddaughter and her big bro so this was the perfect spot. I didn’t host a party this time around since I’m kinda beat from traveling. Low key is the way to go! Yummy food, love CCC!

I also want to give a big thanks to Kym and Mike from Irie Cakes for creating such an amazing carousel cake, Chanel-inspired quilted “smash” cake and cupcakes, and also cake pops for nitro:licious’ anniversary! Why a carousel cake? Because it’s unique, there are 8 unicorns on the carousel, and unicorns are one-of-a-kind (haha). The couple has such an amazing skill, if you’re looking for a pastry baker in the LA or SD area, hit them up! Still can’t get over how amazing the carousel cake and quilted cake came out, I’m obsessed. Thank you guys so much! Peep the carousel cake cutting here.

It’s been a crazy journey and I’m so happy to have you guys supporting me. Much love to my loyal readers, thank you guys so much for continuing to read my blog! More exciting things to come…

rainbow harbor...

Took these photos at The Rainbow Harbor on my way out of Long Beach before heading to Los Angeles back in January. The sun was setting and the scene was too beautiful to miss. I was more carefree since work was done at the Agenda Show, so I was free to just chill! Ahhh how I miss the warm weather in Cali, it’s freezing in NYC! Can’t wait to go back to the West Coast!

escaped the cold...

Remember when NYC’s weather dipped to 9°F and it was snowing hard? I was lucky enough to escape the cold to Long Beach, CA for the Agenda Show on January 7th and 8th. Whenever I’m covering trade shows I like to keep comfortable as I’m walking for hours and it’s not fun to have achy feet after an hour. And plus it’s mostly streetwear brands, so I can be very casual ha!

I’m so glad Agenda put me at the Renaissance Hotel which is directly across the street from the venue. No taking a cab or walking far to get to point B. You can see the first day’s recap here.
