South Africa Day 3: Soweto & STR.CRD Pre-Opening Party

South Africa Day 3: Soweto & STR.CRD Pre-Opening Party

Wednesday, October 3, 2012 by Wendy Lam

On the 3rd day in Joburg it was pretty chilled for the most part. Went by to Maboneng precinct to meet up with some people then got driven to Kwa Mai-Mai Market to shop for some cultural stuff. Then drove to Soweto to visit the Hector Pieterson Memorial and the Mandela House but unfortunately it was closed when we got there. Did some shopping around there to support the locals, bought some dashiki which I can’t wait to wear.

Afterward, the driver drove us to Rosebank Mall for a quick visit before our mixer and when we got there we ran into Ciara (so random). The temperature dropped drastically during the mixer so we went back to the hotel to change, it was really chilly! Dinner was with at OPEN (Maboneng), there was a private chef cooking food that complimented with Grolsch beer.

Then we all went down the street to MOAD for the STR.CRD pre-opening party, we got the first look at the brands showing there the next day. The space was pretty amazing and really loved seeing all the local brands there.
