Sunglasses are a must for me, I almost never leave my house without a pair in my bag (only time I don’t have is when I forget). They’re the most important (to protect the eyes from the sun) and best accessory (makes any outfit look good). According to WWD, Sunglass Hut has signed Rachel Bilson as their first-ever eyewear ambassador and she’ll be celebrating the opening of their new Manhattan flagship at 605 Fifth Avenue on Wednesday. The Fifth Avenue store is 6,000 square feet and consists of a VIP room on the second floor. As the ambassador, Rachel will be making Sunglass Hut public appearances as well as being featured in promotional campaigns,. Starting in June, she will write her own trend blog on the company Web site as the “style director”, as well as Q&A video podcasts with key industry figures- first up is Tory Burch.
“I was very flattered when Sunglass Hut approached me to do this,” Bilson writes via e-mail. “I can’t say what makes me a good style adviser for them, but I am a huge sunglasses addict. I don’t leave the house without [a pair].”
“I love talking about fashion, so I can’t wait to talk to professionals who share the same passion,” remarks Bilson, adding that her ideal subject would be Karl Lagerfeld. “He’s an icon and he wears sunglasses at all times.”
Also in June, Luxottica will unveil a new capsule collection for Vogue Eyewear in collaboration with CFDA members Devi Kroell, Kara Ross and Matt Murphy. The sunglasses retail for $129.95 each. The CFDA and Luxottica plan to continue the partnership next year with another batch of designers. Lots of exciting projects coming up, can’t wait!
