H&M has made big design changes, Margareta van den Bosch, 65, will enter into a semi-retirement stage but will be remaining at the company as a creative advisor and continuing to work on the brand’s successful designer collaborations. The last H&M collections developed under van den Bosch will roll out to stores this fall. Ann-Sofie Johansson, 44,will replace Margareta van den Bosch as head of design, who started her new role this week.

Ann-Sofie Johansson was hired by van den Bosch in 1990 as a design assistant for H&M’s young women’s Divided collection following a three-year stint as a sales clerk at an H&M store. In 1994, she was named designer for the Divided Black collection, assuming her most recent position as a women’s designer in 2005. via FWD

I’m so glad that Margareta van den Bosch didn’t retire completely but will be remain at the company as a creative director, under her skillful eye, H&M translates cutting-edge, high-end fashions into affordable, accessible items for the masses. I am a big fan of hers! I wonder if there will be significant changes in design, we’ll see when Ann-Sofie Johansson rolls out her collections.
